Here’s What To Do When Life Gets Hectic

4 ways to practice mindfulness and composure during difficult times.
Let’s be honest. We all feel the blues now and then. No one is immune to hard times, and there’s no shame in admitting you aren’t feeling like your best self. However, when challenging times arise, the most important thing to do is to pull yourself out of them. Keep reading for four simple ways to find peace and grounding when life gets hectic.
1. Reprioritize
Stress and overwhelm typically ensue when you try to do too many different things simultaneously. If you feel like your hands are full, don’t be afraid to place a few things down and pick them up again later! Take a second look at your to-do list and figure out what tasks are most important versus which can stand to wait for a little bit—oh, and don’t forget to place “self-care” on that list, too!
2. Sweat It Out
Movement is medicine! Stress, tension, and anxiety are stored in the body, so moving your body and getting active is necessary to release the emotional baggage you may be holding. So, shake a leg and sweat it out in whatever fun, creative way you see fit! If you need help getting started, check out our recent full-body workout with Brandy Johnson!
3. Breathwork
Breathwork is an ancient healing practice that consists of intentional and conscious breathing exercises and techniques that offer a wide array of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits. In the video above, breathwork expert Casey Budd demonstrates an easy ten-minute routine to promote mental balance and clarity. So, sit back, relax, and get breathing! 4. Lean on Others
When you’re feeling down, nothing is more important than community and camaraderie! No matter what you’re going through, you’re never going through it alone, and there will always be people around you who can offer support, guidance, or even a listening ear. Reach out to your family, friends, and support groups during times of need. Leaning on those around you can help lighten your load and shift your perspective on things.
