Students Get Fit and Learn Financial Tips During the Smart ‘n Sweaty College Tour
April 28, 2018 • By Olivia Hancock
Atlanta Sweat Sisters from Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Georgia State University recently came together on Clark Atlanta’s campus for The Life Currency and PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT’s first Smart ‘n Sweaty College Tour stop!
As soon as doors opened, dozens of collegiates began flooding into the Thomas Cole Research Center eager to participate in the wellness and financial literacy activities planned for the evening.
Shortly after guests arrived PGS founder Aeshia DeVore Branch and Whitney Headen, creator of the online millennial publication The Life Currency, introduced themselves and outlined the schedule of events.
Each Sweat Sister then participated in icebreaker activities to get warmed up, and took the PGS Pledge to become official members of the Sweat Sisterhood!
Next, instructor and co-owner of Total Fitness Revolution, Lauren Powers, led the ladies in a 45-minute Nicki Minaj “Barbie Boot Camp” themed workout. For almost an hour attendees broke a sweat by going through a sequence of body-blasting moves while listening to Minaj’s hottest tracks and features, including “Barbie Tingz” and “Twerk It.” (Listen to our “Barbie Boot Camp” workout playlist HERE)
After the intense Sweat Session, everyone had a chance to refuel with water and munch on some post-workout snacks including bananas and low-calorie SkinnyPop popcorn.
With snacks secured, Sweat Sisters gathered together once again for an engaging Q&A session between Aeshia and Whitney. The conversation centered around finances with questions ranging from “how can college students make extra money?” to “what can a college student do to build and maintain good credit?”
