“Success is often a marathon. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”
Aeshia is living her dream. The social entrepreneur, who was born in Queens, NY, unites and empowers girls to be health leaders in their communities. The alarming childhood obesity epidemic along with the void of entertaining yet positive fitness content and fitness events for young women (ages 13-22) led to the conception and rapid growth of her passionate venture. Aeshia leads business development, marketing, sales, and event execution and has been responsible for bringing on clients and partners including adidas women, Aquafina, Nike, YMCA, Essence, Samsung and Girl Scouts of the USA. Before creating Pretty Girls Sweat, Aeshia thrived in the TV industry for over 9 years - working her way up from an intern at ABC to a producer on Sundance Channel's celebrated, primetime series ICONOCLASTS (via @radical.media), which enabled her to work with her idols Dr. Maya Angelou, Ruby Dee, and Alicia Keys. The former high school athlete (track, volleyball, and basketball), a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University (Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications), and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was also a model for Wilhelmina in New York City. An enthusiastic philanthropist, Aeshia's community efforts have been highlighted on television networks such as ABC and BET as well as in several publications and websites including Essence, Huffington Post, USA Today, Yahoo News and The Sparta Independent. Aeshia also co-found Teen Diaries in 2007 to provide virtual mentorship for female students in cities all over the nation. The 501c3 nonprofit, which has served over 20,000 multi-cultural women, has raised over $80k since becoming a nonprofit in 2013. The wife and mother of three girls currently resides in the Atlanta, GA area and enjoys reading inspirational books, listening to music, eating great food with friends, and enjoying the outdoors.
