Some moments don’t need to be planned to be powerful. They just happen when you’re fully present, doing what you love. That’s exactly how Kaila’s finalist photo came to life.

The 29-year-old Atlanta native, Registered Behavioral Technician, and fitness coach captured the moment during a workout with the FitFest girlies. No setup, no overthinking, just being locked in and fully in her zone. And that’s what makes it stand out. It reflects the same energy, focus, and passion she brings to every workout.

Her fitness journey began as a personal journey. A way to feel stronger, more confident, and more in control of her health. But over time, it became more than just a routine. It became a form of therapy, a way to stay grounded, and eventually a purpose rooted in helping others do the same. Today, she leads workouts, builds community, and creates space for women to push themselves while still showing up as their authentic selves.

Guided by the mindset that discipline will take you places motivation can’t, Kaila’s, aka Coach Kay’s, approaches fitness with honesty and intention. She’s the first to admit that not every day feels easy, but she shows up anyway. At the same time, she’s learning to listen to her body and recognize when rest is just as important as work. That balance is what keeps her consistent.

We caught up with Coach Kay to talk about her fitness journey, how she stays locked in, and what PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means to her.

Tell us how your finalist photo came about.

This photo came from a workout with the FitFest girlies. I was fully locked in, in my zone, and just being me. It’s one of those unplanned moments that perfectly captured my energy, passion, and love for fitness.

Please briefly share your fitness journey with us.

My fitness journey started as a personal journey. I wanted to feel stronger, more confident, and in control of my health. It also became a form of therapy for me, helping me clear my mind and stay grounded. Over time, it turned into a passion for helping others do the same. Now, I get to lead, inspire, and build community through fitness, which makes the journey even more meaningful.

We believe fitness + friendship = FUN! What is your favorite group fitness workout?

High-energy bootcamp workouts. I love anything that mixes strength, cardio, and good music! It brings people together and pushes everyone to another level.

How do you push through on days when you don’t feel like working out? What keeps you consistent?

I remind myself that consistency beats motivation every time. I don’t always feel like working out, but I show up anyway. At the same time, I’ve been learning to listen to my body—understanding the difference between needing discipline and needing rest, so I don’t overwork or exhaust myself.

While working out is essential, so is eating the right foods. What is your go-to pre-workout meal? How do you refuel after a workout?

Pre-workout: I usually start with my go-to drink, oxyshred, greens, and collagen. I really don’t like to eat before working out, but if I do, I’ll keep it light, such as an orange, a banana, or even a small Rice Krispies treat for a quick boost of energy.

Post-workout: I refuel with a protein shake and/or a balanced meal with protein and carbs, with my go-to meal: a taco or hamburger bowl (ground turkey, potatoes, and veggies, with a homemade sauce) to help my body recover and recharge.

What is one item that is always in your gym bag?

Lip gloss, water, and pre-workout because we’re staying hydrated, energized, and cute at all times.
