How Malia Williams Is Redefining Strength, Confidence, and Motherhood Through Fitness

At 30, the Atlanta-based mom, trainer, and instructor is showing women that prioritizing your health doesn’t stop after motherhood. It evolves into something even more powerful.

For many women, motherhood can feel like a moment where everything shifts, your body, your priorities, and sometimes even your sense of self. But for Malia Williams, fitness became the very thing that helped her find her way back.

Born in New Orleans and raised in Atlanta, the 30-year-old stay-at-home mom, personal trainer, and fitness instructor turned her postpartum journey into purpose. What started as a way to rebuild her strength and confidence after having a child quickly grew into a passion for helping other women, especially moms, feel like themselves again through movement.

Grounded in her favorite scripture, “So do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you” (Isaiah 41:10), her approach to fitness goes beyond physical results. It’s about faith, discipline, and trusting that you are capable of becoming stronger in every season of life.

Whether she’s leading a high-energy bootcamp, fueling up for a workout, or balancing motherhood with building her fitness platform, she’s showing women that you don’t have to choose between taking care of your family and taking care of yourself. You can do both, and do it well.

We caught up with Malia to talk about her fitness journey, favorite workouts, go-to meals, and what PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means to her.

Tell us how your selected photo came about.

This photo came from a moment where I just felt confident and strong in my body. As a mom and fitness instructor, I love capturing moments that represent discipline, growth, and showing other women that you can still prioritize yourself while raising a family. It’s really about embracing the journey and the strength that comes with it.

Please briefly share your fitness journey with us.

My fitness journey really grew after becoming a mom. Postpartum changed my body and mindset, and fitness became a way for me to rebuild my strength and confidence. Over time, it turned into more than just working out, it became a passion for helping other women, especially moms, feel strong again. Now I teach classes and am stepping into personal training to inspire women to move their bodies, push past limits, and realize they’re capable of so much more.

We believe fitness + friendship = FUN! What is your favorite group fitness workout?

I love a challenging bootcamp or Pilates class. I enjoy workouts that not only push you (and the person next to you) but also help build community. It’s a lot more fun when you’re all struggling together.

While working out is essential, so is eating the right foods. What is your go-to pre-workout meal?

My go-to pre-workout meal is either 3 boiled eggs or oatmeal with blueberries (especially on leg days).

How do you refuel after a workout?

After working out I usually eat my meal prep or a second breakfast like an egg scramble with 3–4 eggs, bacon, onions, spinach, and cheese.

What is one item that is always in your gym bag?

My headphones of course! I hate a silent workout.

What are your top 3 fitness Instagram accounts to follow?

My top 3 would be @kiaratheleader, @yayatshuma, and @kellylmatthews.

What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

People are usually surprised to learn that outside of fitness I’m actually pretty crafty. I love a good home improvement or DIY project and enjoy finding creative ways to make things myself. My Cricut and I go together real bad.

What are the top three goals you hope to accomplish in life?

  1. Build a successful fitness platform that inspires women, especially moms, to prioritize their health and feel confident in their bodies.
  2. Build a successful personal training business while also being a full-time stay-at-home mom, showing other women that it’s possible to pursue your passions while raising a family.
  3. Build generational wealth for my family and create opportunities and stability for my children and future generations.

What do the words PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT mean to you?

To me, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means strength, confidence, and breaking the stereotype that women have to look a certain way to be feminine. It’s about showing that women can be strong, work hard, sweat, and still feel beautiful and empowered while doing it.

Since PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, what is your favorite deodorant?

My go-to deodorant is Secret Outlast Powder Fresh Spray Deodorant. It keeps me fresh even through tough workouts.

How can readers stay in touch with you on social media?

My Instagram handle is @ailam_w and my TikTok handle is @gainswithli.

From early morning workouts to late-night DIY projects with her Cricut, Malia’s building more than just strength. She’s building a life rooted in purpose, passion, and possibility. Her journey is a reminder that fitness isn’t about bouncing back, it’s about moving forward with intention. And for every mom wondering if she still has time to pour into herself, consider this your sign. You do. And you deserve it.
