Model Damaris Lewis Hosts Teen TRX Class at Nimble Fitness

The roaring rain could not stop over a dozen young women and teens from experiencing TRX for the first time at Nimble Fitness in New York City.

What is TRX? Don’t worry, everyone in attendance was unsure as well. As explained by the event’s fitness instructor Suzie Gavers, “TRX was born in the Navy SEALs. It is a Suspension Training bodyweight exercise that develops strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability simultaneously and requires the use of the TRX Suspension Trainer, a highly portable performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete 100s of exercises.”

Hosted by charismatic model Damaris Lewis, teen guests were inspired, enlightened, and entertained as she shared her story of growing up in Brooklyn’s Coney Island neighborhood to being discovered by Elite modeling agency. Lewis’ successful fashion career has included several billboards and the cover of Fitness magazine (June 2013) as well as campaigns for Clarins, Victoria’s Secret’s Pink line, and Yves Saint Laurent. The Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts graduate is currently the famed musician Prince’s muse and has traveled the globe as his key dancer. She also shares her love for basketball as a correspondent on NBA.com.

Mentors Aeshia DeVore Branch (Founder of PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT / SWEAT MAKES CENTSSamantha Jo Alonso (Fruition LV / Mission I’mPOSSIBLE), and luxury nail artist Dawn Sterling broke a sweat with the intimate group of teen girls and shared words of encouragement as they played fun team-building games that helped the group learn more about one another.

PGS Ambassadors Andréa Cox (Temple University) and Valerie Previl (Howard University) were on hand to help facilitate event activities and fitness reporter Aja Gatling stepped in as the event photographer.

Guests stayed hydrated with WAT-AAH!, the first premium brand of functional water for kids and teens, and left with PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT backpacks filled with PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT t-shirts and wristbands, nail polish, bookmarks, and WAT-AAH!.

One lucky girl, Richelle, scored the ultimate fitness gift pack including a yoga mat, 3 lb. weights, a PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT tank top and water bottle, and Nike wristbands!
