August 24, 2018 • By Olivia Hancock
The PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT Show is back! Each week, our podcast–hosted by PGS founder Aeshia DeVore Branch–highlights women who are balancing demanding careers with a healthy lifestyle and hurdling over personal and professional obstacles to reach their goals.
In episode 12, Rachel Pierre, a wife, and mom of one, who has written for the Department of Homeland Security + members of Congress, talk about balancing fitness with spending quality time with loved ones and going after that dream job. As a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., she also gets real about the dos and don’ts of trying to join a Black Greek-letter Organization.
Throughout Aeshia and Rachel’s 40-minute conversation, Rachel drops gems such as “Women are multifaceted and can follow their passions while still being great women, wives, moms, sisters, daughters, and friends,” says Rachel. “There can be time for the most important things in your life, including fitness, spending quality time with loved ones, going after that dream job, whatever it is you love – as long as you actually prioritize what’s important.”

On what PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means to her:
“That even though we as women look beautiful and pretty, we still take care of ourselves and want to be strong. We want our bodies to be strong and that requires sweating. It’s not just a physical look. We want to be actually physically strong and take care of ourselves!”
