On Sunday, January 28th, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT teamed up with the multi-award-winning performer, author, and activist Common to commemorate the launch of his latest book, ‘And Then We Rise.’

Common’s journey to wellness is a central theme in ‘And Then We Rise,’ where he shares practical insights gained throughout his successful career. In an interview with PGS founder Aeshia, Common delves into the inspiration behind the book, its title, and his essential pre and post-workout rituals. He also reflects on the significance of “PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT.”

The groundbreaking wellness experience took place at Overtime Arena in Atlanta, GA, marking the venue’s inaugural event of this kind. Attendees recognized wellness as a revolutionary act and donned military green T-shirts, symbolizing unity and moving forward together as one, regardless of race, gender, fitness level, or age.

Excitement and positivity permeated the atmosphere as guests, including author Tameka Foster, MOODEAUX founder Brianna Arps, media personality Janee Bolden, and wellness entrepreneur Koya Webb, eagerly lined up to meet Common and have their copies of his book signed. Amid candid conversations, old friends reconnected, and new bonds were formed.

Common, radiating kindness, took the time to engage with each guest personally, posing for photos and creating memorable moments.

DJ Milhouse’s music set the tone as everyone grooved their way to the show court for a motivating workout led by Sadia Yansaneh (@simplytone). The high-energy routine was filled with cool cardio moves, including a group chant of “We Rise” echoing through the entire arena.

Common, at 51, showcased his youthful spirit, proving that age is truly just a number as he effortlessly began breakdancing, fueled by the infectious energy of the crowd. Missed the action? Here’s a clip:

“You are beautiful, blessed, and worthy of your own attention, compassion, and respect every single day.”

– Common
