4 Pre-Workout Foods You Should Be Snacking On Before Your Sweat Session

When we hit the gym we want to go hard and give our sweat sessions our all. That’s why properly fueling up with the right foods before exercising is essential. Your pre-workout diet should consist of healthy carbohydrates or fruits and veggies that will give you the energy needed to tackle whatever fitness routine you have scheduled for the day.

Here are 4 pre-workout foods you should fill up on before breaking a sweat:

1. 1/2 cup grapes with 1 stick low-fat string cheese

Grapes contain powerful antioxidants and have many health-boosting properties believed to protect against cancer, diabetes, and other illnesses. String cheese serves as a great source of calcium, protein, and vitamin D.

2. 1 slice whole wheat toast and 2 scrambled egg whites

Whole wheat toast is high in fiber and B-vitamins, and consuming egg whites, which are cholesterol-free and low-calorie, are beneficial to muscle health, electrolyte levels, and skin.

3. Greek parfait: 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup assorted fruit, 1/4 cup Special K Red Berries cereal

Greek yogurt is packed with protein and probiotics. Topping it with fruit and cereal is the perfect way to add extra nutrients and flavor to your pre-workout snack.

4. 1 banana with 1 tablespoon of nut butter

Bananas contain essential vitamins and minerals such as potassium, calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron. You can pair the fruit with any nut butter of your choice, like cashew or almond, which contain healthy fats known to improve heart health.
