Meet Taylor Faminu: The Personal Trainer and Mom of Two Who Won Our September Photo Contest

For Taylor Faminu, it’s all about fitness and motherhood. The 26-year-old Tucson, Arizona resident is an online personal trainer and busy mom of two who fell in love with fitness during her time at Georgia Southern University. Faminu first landed on our radar when she posted a picturesque photo that captured her mid-jump. And we weren’t the only ones obsessed with the energetic shot. Over 1000 sweat sisters showed love to the picture on our Instagram – which earned her the bragging rights of being our September photo contest winner.

We recently caught up with Faminu to learn more about her life as a fitness professional. From her favorite workouts to her go-to healthy meals, she shares it all with us.

Tell us how your winning photo came about?

While preparing for the launch of my fitness website, I asked my husband to take some pictures. We had a vision, gave it a shot, and were very pleased with the outcome!

Please briefly share your fitness journey with us.

I found fitness in college as a method to relieve stress and it has been my outlet ever since. I have grown in my knowledge of it by studying and completing various certifications and I love being able to share that knowledge to help women become the best versions of themselves. My goal is to turn something that may not be fun and exciting, into an enjoyable and sustainable lifestyle for women.

We believe fitness + friendship = FUN! What is your favorite group fitness workout?

I truly believe that music is a universal language. Any type of dance fitness workout definitely brings about a good time, great fellowship, and an intense sweat session!

While working out is important, so is eating the right foods. What is your go-to pre-workout meal? How do you refuel after a workout?

My favorite pre-workout meal is spaghetti! People laugh when I say this but it gives me a great amount of carbs to help me fuel through my heavy lifting. My favorite post-workout meal is a homemade smoothie that includes strawberries and blueberries, oats, yogurt, peanut butter, almond milk, super greens powder, and ice!

What is one item that is always in your gym bag?

My camera. I love documenting my workouts and being able to share them to help and inspire as many women as I can!

What are your top 3 fitness Instagram accounts to follow?

My favorite accounts are: @libbychristensen@danyelewilson@ashleyweaver_fit. I love strong women that encourage women!

What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

If they don’t follow me on social media, people are surprised that I’ve been married for five years and have two kids.

What are your top three goals you hope to accomplish in life?

I want to open and operate a successful fitness facility specifically for women. I want to create generational wealth for my family through entrepreneurship. I want to be the healthiest version of myself so that I can be around for a long time to know my great-grandkids.

What does PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT mean to you?

PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT is such a powerful statement and brand because it changes the stigma on working out. I have been told that I should not work out because I don’t want to get “too bulky”or “be too masculine”or “look like a man”. Women all over the world are told these same statements and many allow it to deter them from their fitness journey.

PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT reclaims that power and really shows that you can be pretty, dainty, and all things feminine, while still being strong and being the best version of yourself through health and fitness. Not only does it reflect in the fitness community but just in life. There is more to a woman than just being pretty, we put in work too!

Since PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, what is your favorite deodorant?

Degree Women 24 Hour Dry Protection.
