hint CEO Kara Goldin Manages a $90 Million Company and Daily Workouts

Kara Goldin may spend her days as the founder and CEO of the multimillion-dollar brand hint, which she started to help conquer her soda addiction, but she still manages to get active 10 times per week after two mind-blowing accidents!

Kara Goldin is the founder and CEO of hint, a healthy lifestyle brand that produces the leading unsweetened flavored water, as well as a scented sunscreen spray that is oxybenzone and paraben-free. Kara has received numerous accolades, including being named Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 Northern California, one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs, and Forbes’ 40 Women to Watch Over 40. The Huffington Post listed her as one of six disruptors in business, alongside Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg.

Previously, Kara was Vice President of Shopping and E-commerce Partnerships at AOL, where she helped lead the growth of its startup shopping business to a $1 billion enterprise. Kara is an active business speaker and writer, and in 2016 she launched The Kara Network, a digital resource and mentoring platform for entrepreneurs. She also recently launched the podcast Unstoppable, where she interviews founders, entrepreneurs, and disruptors across various industries.

“Don’t be afraid to admit you don’t know what you’re doing.” When I was ready to produce at the time, I had discovered a female-founded bottling company in Chicago to start bottling Hint. When the bottler asked me, “Did you used to work at Coke or Pepsi? What do you know about this process?” My response was “Absolutely nothing. I know nothing at all about this. I just have this idea.” I was upfront with my partners. I was learning as I was going, but more importantly, by being honest with myself and with those around me, I felt my pathway paving little by little with their support until I gained more expertise. Don’t think that being an entrepreneur means you have to do everything alone and know everything. It’s all a part of the journey as an entrepreneur.

On what PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means to her:

“It’s hard-working women, that’s what it means to me. They don’t show up as just being pretty, it’s the ones that are hard working and hustlers, that are out there doing it and trying.”
