PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT and NAACP GSU Brought Wellness, Sisterhood, and Self-Care to Campus

After a long day of back-to-back classes, mid-semester stress, and juggling too many to-dos, walking into a room filled with soft, soothing music and familiar faces felt like hitting the reset button. The lights were calm, the energy was warm, and the vibe? Exactly what students didn’t know they needed. That’s the scene PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT supported in partnership with PGSGSU and the NAACP chapter at Georgia State University—an afternoon built to help college women move their bodies, clear their minds, and feel seen.

Baddies in the Spring wasn’t your typical campus event. It was an experience—a space where laughter mixed with lunges, vulnerability met victory, and wellness felt personal. Led by women who’ve been in those same lecture halls and faced similar challenges, it was a gentle reminder that even in the busiest seasons, you deserve to feel good, inside and out.

The afternoon started with an interactive icebreaker that got everyone laughing (and squatting). Guests were encouraged to call out the names of different workout moves demonstrated by their peers—turning the game into a fun, fitness-filled round of charades that helped ease nerves and spark connection.

Mental health advocate Melanie Calhoun, MBA, LAPC, PMH-C, NCC shared powerful insights on stress management, the connection between physical and psychological wellness, and how students can find balance while juggling school, jobs, and life. Her words were met with snaps, nods, and the occasional “yesss girl” from the crowd—because she kept it all the way real.

Once the energy was high and the sweat was ready to flow, PGSGSU alum and fitness entrepreneur Mecca Day took the mic—and the mat—for her signature booty-burning @ohmy.glutes workout. With the beats pumping and encouragement echoing throughout the room, students pushed past their limits together, proving that community support makes every rep more powerful.

After the workout, guests enjoyed healthy snacks while tuning into a heartfelt panel moderated by PGS founder Aeshia DeVore Branch.

The evening wrapped with a raffle that had everyone holding their breath—winners scored PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT merch and even pairs of Beyoncé’s Superstar Adidas sneakers, donated by RSVP Gallery, a game-changer in the fusion of art, fashion, and community.

Huge thanks to the health leaders of PGSGSU, the NAACP GSU chapter, our incredible guest speakers, and every student who showed up and showed out. Take a look:
