Catching Up With Rumble Boxing Trainer, Fitness Influencer, & Mompreneur Danielle Burrell!

I first met superstar trainer Danielle Burrell at a Rumbleboxing class in NYC — my first one to be exact! Hailing from Oakland, California, she’s one of the founding trainers at the popular gym’s Los Angeles location and her top-notch skills prove exactly why. For those who don’t know, Rumble classes focus specifically on interval training that brings together boxing, weights, and music for a heart-pumping, energy-filled workout that’s out of this WORLD. While I heard great things before my visit, nothing could quite prepare me for how intense Burrell’s session would actually be — whew! But her motivating spirit kept me and everyone else in the room lifted, making it that much easier to hit all our exercises and break a major sweat. If you ever get the chance, I HIGHLY recommend it!

Recently, I caught up with Danielle outside the gym to get the backstory on her journey. Ahead, read on for more — including the coach and fitness influencer’s history with martial arts, her key fitness tips, and what fans can expect to see next.

1. When did you start boxing and what drew you to the sport?

I started boxing when I moved to New York in 2009. I have a martial arts background, but I’ve always loved the aspect of using my hands to fight. I also love the boxing culture, so when I moved to NYC, I knew to go straight to Gleason’s. Gleason’s is one of the most famous boxing gyms. So, I love that I got to learn from some of the best.

2. What is the best part about being one of Rumble LA’s founding trainers?

The best thing about working for Rumble is the fusion of amazing music and boxing. I love that I can be surrounded by two things that I have a big passion for. I’ve also met some of THE BEST people at Rumble. Rumble attracts some of the most badass, passionate, and amazing human beings.

3. How do you balance being a mom, wife, and working fitness professional all at the same time?

It’s challenging but, ultimately, it’s extremely rewarding. I feel so grateful for my family and career. My son is a huge part of me staying motivated and working hard for what I love. My husband is a huge inspiration to me as a professional boxer and entrepreneur. I’m surrounded by love and inspiration. I’m a big advocate of work-life balance as well, so I try to stay as organized as possible so I’m able to balance everything without feeling overwhelmed or stressed.

4. I have to ask: What’s your favorite post-workout snack?

I love a good peanut-butter based protein shake!

5. For all our Sweat Sisters who also love breaking a sweat to music, what are your top three favorite songs to turn up to in the gym?

I love “No Stylist” by French Montana, “Nonstop” by Drake, and “Uproar” by Lil Wayne Ft. Swizz Beats.

6. What’s one thing your fans may not know about you?

I have a huge interest in numerology and birthdays!

7. What’s next for you and what can we expect in the coming months?

I just moved to Los Angeles. I’m now the new talent manager at [Rumble’s] West Hollywood location. I’m looking forward to growing my brand in the LA market and enjoying the LA lifestyle with my family. Big things are coming!
