For the second time, Devyn Gipson has claimed victory in PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT’s photo contest, and it’s no surprise why. The stunning image above, captured by talented photographer Marcus Wilson, perfectly encapsulates Devyn’s dedication to wellness, her empowering energy, and the vibrant spirit that inspires women to embrace their strength.
At 33, this East Point, GA native is transforming lives as a women’s fitness coach and corporate wellness instructor. And with her favorite mantra, “You’re allowed to be both a work in progress and a masterpiece,” she’s proving that every step of the journey is worth celebrating.
What inspired you to pursue a career in fitness, and how has it shaped your perspective on empowering women to stay active and confident?
My fitness journey began six years ago, driven by a personal desire to transform not just my body but my mindset. As I experienced the profound physical and mental changes that came with staying active, I realized how empowering fitness could be. This inspired me to pursue a career where I could share this gift with others, especially women.
For many women, societal pressures can lead to insecurity about their bodies and capabilities. Through fitness, I’ve learned that strength isn’t just physical—it’s about building confidence, resilience, and a sense of control over one’s life. Helping women tap into this power and see what they’re capable of has become my passion. Fitness is more than working out; it’s about creating a supportive community that uplifts, motivates, and fosters self-love. Watching women become more confident and active reminds me why I chose this path every single day.
You’ve won our photo contest twice! How do you think capturing your fitness journey motivates others to start their own?
Sharing my fitness journey shows others that transformation is possible, no matter where you start. By being honest about my challenges and progress, I make fitness feel relatable and less intimidating. It’s not about perfection but about consistency and self-belief, and I hope my story inspires others to take that first step toward their own goals.
What was the most important thing that helped you during your wellness transformation journey, especially on tough days?
My daughter is my “why”. She’s the reason I started this journey and the inspiration that keeps me going, even on the toughest days. I want to be the best version of myself for her, showing her the importance of resilience, self-care, and commitment. On difficult days, I reminded myself that every step forward was not just for me, but for her future as well.
What are your go-to athletic clothing brands for girls with curves that make you feel supported and stylish?
Love Women’s Best, Nike, BodyWerkz, and Gymshark.
What hairstyles do you swear by to maintain an active lifestyle without sacrificing style?
I have locs! I love wearing Bantu knots or Two-Strand twists! Perfect for those intense gym days.
When you have to eat out, what are your favorite healthy options to stay on track without feeling deprived?
I love CAVA! I eat there every Thursday! Haha!! I get the greens & grains bowl with grilled chicken or steak, rice, romaine lettuce, broccoli, hummus, tomatoes and cucumbers!
When eating out, I focus on balance and making choices that align with my goals without feeling restricted. I love meals centered around lean proteins like grilled chicken or fish, paired with plenty of veggies and a healthy carb like sweet potatoes or rice. Salads with added protein are great too, as long as I opt for dressings on the side. If I’m craving something indulgent, I’ll enjoy it in moderation—it’s all about mindful eating and staying consistent, not perfection.
Are daily vitamins part of your routine? If so, which ones do you recommend for staying energized and healthy?
Yes! Daily vitamins are key for me! I take a multivitamin, omega-3s, and vitamin D to stay energized and support my health. Magnesium is also a must for recovery after workouts. They help me fill nutritional gaps and keep up with my active lifestyle.
Take us through a typical ‘What You Eat in a Day’— we’d love to know your favorite meals and snacks!

Lately I’ve been aiming towards high protein meals such as Ground Turkey & Peppers with Sweet Potatoes, and Beef Lo Mein (I use protein pasta). My go-to snacks are Protein yogurt parfaits with granola and berries, Smoothies, fresh fruit, beef jerky, and avocado toast with a fried egg.
What’s one mindset hack or piece of advice you give clients who struggle to stay consistent with fitness?
One mindset hack I often share is to focus on progress, not perfection. I encourage my clients to celebrate small wins along the way and remember that consistency is more important than being perfect. Life will always have ups and downs, but staying committed to taking one step at a time keeps them moving forward, even on tough days.
What’s the biggest lesson fitness has taught you about balancing physical and mental resilience?
The biggest lesson fitness has taught me is that physical and mental resilience go hand in hand. When I push my body, it strengthens my mindset—teaching me to embrace challenges, stay disciplined, and believe in my own ability to grow. It’s shown me that true strength comes from balancing effort with self-compassion, and that both play a vital role in long-term success.
