Epic Moments of Fitness, Fun, and Family: Inside the Inaugural PGS Playground

A powerful celebration of moms as health leaders to kick of 2024 PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT Fest Weekend

PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT joined forces with Moms Offering More (MOM) for the inaugural PGS Playground event, creating an unforgettable “Mom & Me” experience that celebrated the role moms play as health leaders in their families. Held at the renowned Ron Clark Academy in Southeast Atlanta—a nonprofit middle school known for its innovative approach to education and commitment to inspiring students—the space was the perfect backdrop for a day filled with movement, connection, and fun.

Over 100 moms and their mini-mes (4th-8th graders) signed up for this special day, which was about more than just a workout; it was an opportunity to build lasting memories and healthy habits together, all while soaking in the academy’s vibrant energy that fosters academic rigor, creativity, and global citizenship.

Icebreaker games set the tone for the fun evening as guests got the chance to connect and fill the air with laughter while taking breaks to pose for family portraits on the iconic Ron Clark Academy rotunda staircase.

The high-energy workout, led by Brittany Spencer and her daughter Maya, set the stage for an evening filled with excitement. The dynamic duo guided participants through partner exercises, creating a shared experience that emphasized teamwork and family connection.

Adding to the fun, DJ Amber Alert kept the energy high, transforming the workout into a dance party that had everyone moving and smiling.

Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed special moments like mommy-and-me portraits on the iconic Ron Clark Academy rotunda staircase and video sessions to capture shared love and memories.

In the spirit of giving back, the event honored an inspiring mother within the community. Thanks to the generous support of Moms Offering More, Brittany Krystin received a $2,500 grant, recognizing her resilience and dedication to her family. This surprise was tear-jerking and one of the day’s most memorable moments as her daughter captured it all on her smartphone. Through ongoing initiatives like these, MOM continues to support women making a difference in their communities. These grants are available for moms who are driving positive change. Smoothie-making was another highlight, led by Keon Davis of Smooth N Groove, who guided kids through a hands-on workshop on creating delicious and healthy smoothies.

PGS founder Aeshia DeVore Branch also hosted a fireside chat with Brittany Spencer, where they shared valuable insights on motherhood, wellness, and the power of fitness in building resilience.

The PGS Playground event at Ron Clark Academy was a unique way to celebrate moms’ positive role in leading healthy households, and we’re already looking forward to returning it next year!

Special thanks to Kim Bearden of Ron Clark Academy, Lachelle Metcalf of The Herrendorf Family Foundation, and everyone who joined us for this incredible celebration of moms, movement, and memories. Mark your calendars for next year’s PGSFEST weekend on September 19th and 20th, 2025.
