Social Media Sensation Shameless Maya Inspires Teen Girls Through Fun Fitness Challenge
July 13, 2014 • By PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT
No Shame, No Pain, No Gain. On Saturday, July 12th, 2014, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT rallied nearly 100 teen girls and young women to join youtube sensation Shameless Maya for a fun fitness challenge called Gym Rat Race at Central Park in NYC.
While local residents happily walked their dogs and completed their morning runs, heads turned to see dozens of dedicated girls, including teen model/fitness enthusiast Cleopatra Lee, connect through the power of fitness.
Crunch fitness instructor Courtney Alexander led the team-building yet super competitive routine she created with high-energy music, fun fitness games, and relay races that sent echoes of supportive cheers throughout the park. “This is possibly one of the most exciting and challenging workouts we have ever hosted,” says PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT / SWEAT MAKES CENTS founder Aeshia DeVore Branch. “The energy of the teen girls and mentors had outsiders swarming to learn more about our powerful program.”
Mentors included music publisher Angelique Miles, nurse / Centric TV on-air health expert Anthea G. Noel, Hip Hop artist Audra The Rapper, entertainment journalist/co-host of VH1’s The Gossip Table Delaina Dixon, People magazine reporter Janine Rubenstein, Sundance Channel ad sales executive/vocalist/performance coach Keanna “KJ Rose” Henson, Miss Grand Haiti / Miss Teen NY Lisa Drouillard, writer/researcher Sharlyn Pierre (In Style magazine), and Zakia Blain of FBF Body all supported the “Sweat Sisterhood” by sharing their career and health-related successes and struggles.
