Meet Danielle B. Smith, a 32-year-old Family Nurse Practitioner hailing from Charlotte, NC, whose winning photo in the PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT April 2024 contest captured the essence of confidence, beauty, and female empowerment. In this exclusive interview, Danielle shares her inspiring fitness journey, her favorite group workouts, and her go-to pre and post-workout meals. Tell us how your winning photo came about.

Six months ago, I nervously stepped out on Faith to begin my own fitness business. After joining the Simply Successful Mentorship program (led by Sadia), I knew I needed to focus on better branding to capture the attention of my audience. I wanted something that would display confidence, beauty, and the power of being a woman on a mission.

Please briefly share your fitness journey with us.

My fitness journey began in 2017 when I started preparing for my wedding. Although I successfully achieved my goal weight before, I needed more overall discipline to be consistent with my efforts. Between a second pregnancy & COVID hitting in 2019/2020, I regained the weight previously lost! Being an RN in the hospital setting during COVID & witnessing many deaths that resulted from health being poorly maintained prompted me to take my own more seriously! Over the past two years, I have taken charge of my health & wellness and worked to improve my efforts daily; I have now decided to coach others to do the same! 

We believe fitness + friendship = FUN! What is your favorite group fitness workout?

One of my favorite group fitness workouts would have to be β€˜Gym Gworl Tuesdays.’ This is a class I host strictly for women that helps teach the fundamentals and benefits of strength training. I love being part of creating new healthy lifestyle habits and witnessing my ladies RECLAIM their mental and physical confidence!

While working out is essential, so is eating the right foods. What is your go-to pre-workout meal?

My go-to pre-workout meal would have to be banana nut protein oatmeal; it’s delicious and helps me perform my best!

How do you refuel after a workout?

Postβ€”workout fueling usually includes a protein shake that I keep on hand in my gym bag & fruit, which I view as a healthy snack; I make it a goal to have a balanced protein-rich meal within hours of my finished workout. 

What is one item that is always in your gym bag?

My tripod is ALWAYS in my gym bag; you never know when a good content idea may hit you.

I’m heavy on fitness influencers that I see myself learning from in order to grow as a coach!

I am a GIRL MOM of 2 beautiful princesses, 4 and 9 yrs old.

What are the top three goals you hope to accomplish in life?

I plan to become a 6-figure entrepreneur, have my own health & wellness studio, and maintain the ability to live life on my OWN terms!

What do the words PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT mean to you?

These words, to me, mean NOT being afraid to put the work in while still maintaining a level of beauty. It gives being able to operate in my feminine & masculine energy comfortably! 

Since PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, what is your favorite deodorant?

I love Mitchum for Women, it keeps me together throughout any level of exercise.
