Our Story

PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT was established on
September 24, 2011 in New York, NY.

In an effort to support First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT and TEEN DIARIES founder Aeshia DeVore Branch was inspired to solve the obesity epidemic in the US. The mother of three daughters / social entrepreneur / athlete / TV producer / Wilhelmina model and advocate for female students met award winning singer Keri Hilson backstage at a concert in New Jersey and after the two shared their love for sports and learned that they both played high school basketball, they agreed to collaborate on an event for teen girls that would prove fitness could be fun. Hilson's empowering hit song "Pretty Girl Rock" served as the soundtrack for the workout filled with dance routines and childhood games including jumping rope.

100 female students, including talented teens from DeVore Dance Center (who choreographed the dance workout below), united for the ultimate fitness party... igniting a magical movement. Take a look!

Since then, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT has transformed into a highly engaging, socially driven media platform that encourages girls to “make fitness fun” and “sweat with purpose”.

Our fitness parties, digital content and inspiring apparel form a “Sweat Sisterhood” uniting women to raise awareness for childhood obesity and give back to under served communities. We designed our program to work with teen girls via organized “Sweat Shows" nationwide and with our nation’s colleges to reach the maximum number of young women to implement fitness and wellness programs across the U.S. During our fitness parties, we encourage students to make positive life choices to improve their physical and mental health through exercise, teamwork, nutrition, networking, gratitude and community service. Participating students have a safe place to enhance their lives with their peers, mentors, fitness coaches, and health experts. The results have been outstanding! Participants lose weight, gain confidence, drink more water, make healthier food choices, improve in school, and build friendships.

With the help of hundreds of volunteers, the PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT program in collaboration with our trusted 501(c)3 nonprofit partner Teen Diaries Foundation is now serving over 20,000+ in 8 cities across North America each year. Since 2011, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT has hosted 270 community fitness parties across the United States. Celebrity supporters include Keri Hilson, Jeanette Jenkins, Kelly Rowland, Angela Simmons, Adrienne Bailon, Jasmine Villegas, OMG Girlz, Estelle, Melanie Fiona, Elle Varner, BET CEO Debra Lee, Carmelita Jeter (fastest woman alive), Sanya Richards-Ross (Olympic gold medalist), Skylar Diggins (WNBA) and many more! We’ve been featured on ABC, BET, and Essence as the “fitness destination for girls”.
