Trader Joe’s Haul: 5 Fall Fitspired Foods Under $5

Without a doubt, fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. Once September hits and the weather dips below 50 degrees, anything orange with "pumpkin" in the name — from candles to face masks to even those infamous spiced lattes everyone talks about — is a must-have. That being said, I'm so thankful for Trader Joe's. Every year, the grocer gives fans like myself a healthy dose of autumn-inspired food choices to satisfy all our cravings. Not to mention, everything's super affordable! This year, I took a little trip to see what's new — here's what I found.

1. Pumpkin O’s Breakfast Cereal

Price: $2.99

I grew up eating cereals for breakfast. And although I try to avoid them now because they're just so sugary, THIS box is too good not to devour — plus, it only has nine grams of sugar per serving. Not bad at all, especially considering each cup is packed with fiber — a trade-off I stand behind. My favorite part about these Pumpkin O's is that they combine the crunchiness of Cheerios, which I love, with the perfect hint of pumpkin spice flavor. Enjoy them dry or with some cold almond milk — the choice is up to you!

2. Autumnal Harvest Creamy Pasta Sauce with Cauliflower Gnocchi

Sauce Price: $3.49
Cauliflower Gnocchi Price: $2.69

Pasta is my true love and comfort food wrapped in one. Sadly, I don't eat it too-too often since it's such a heavy carb. But this cauliflower-based "gnocchi" is a wonderful substitute that tastes exactly like regular pasta with the same chewy texture. Topped with TJ's Autumnal Harvest Creamy Pasta Sauce, it's a hearty dish I look forward to after a long day. The best part? Both combine wholesome ingredients full of vitamins like 100% of your daily vitamin A intake and 15% of vitamin C. A double win if you ask me!

3. Pumpkin Soup

Price: $1.47

When it’s cold outside, soup is my number one savior to keep me warm and full. This pumpkin delight is so creamy with a hint of sweetness, you'll wonder how you've gone your whole life without a spoonful. There's only 2.5 grams of fat per serving — and you can pronounce all the ingredients on the label (which is a great sign, btw).

4. Pumpkin Spice Rooibos Tea

Price: $3.99

As soon as I spotted this cute festive tin, I knew I just had to grab it — and man, I'm so glad I did. This tea has saved me lots of cash, because instead of buying Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes every morning, I brew up a cup of "pumpkin spice rooibos" instead. It's not too strong and has a semi-sweet aftertaste I don't mind at all. Pro tip: I prefer adding a touch of almond milk to make it go down even smoother.

5. Pumpkin Cream Cheese

Total Price: $1.99

Being an adopted New Yorker, I live for a good bagel with cream cheese. While this one has added sugar, there are only four grams in two tablespoons. Experimenting, I added a dollop to my cinnamon oatmeal with almond milk one morning, and it was beyond amazing! This stuff's a little treat well worth adding to your shopping cart next time you're out.
