Spring Cleaning: How to Re-Organize Your Life

Spring is a time of renewal in nature. Why not apply that to your life? It’s never too late to get a fresh start and refocus on your goals and life plans. Have you let your New Year's resolutions fall by the wayside? Do you find yourself frustrated with missed deadlines? Are you constantly losing or looking for things? There is hope. Here are some ways to re-organize your life for the spring.

Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail

In most instances, the most productive people in life are the ones who make a game plan for their goals. If you go into something, whether it’s studying for an exam, going for a job interview, finalizing your college decision, without preparation, you will probably be unsuccessful.  You may not be a type A person, but you can still get organized. One effective way of getting organized is having a planner to map out your responsibilities.  You can use this to write down due dates for classes, hangouts with friends, or even the errands that you need to run.  Writing things down allows you to have a visual representation of your obligations. It also enhances your memory of that task.

Don’t Be a Hoarder

A clustered environment can make a clustered mind.  A study conducted by the Princeton Neuroscience Institute showed that having a cluttered environment where you study can cause more distractions. Spring break or spring, in general, is the perfect time to clean your room and get rid of the junk that you’ve been storing.  For example, with clothing, a rule of thumb to go by is, if you have not worn it in one year or longer, you do not need it. Why waste your closet and room space for something that you won’t use? Donating clothes is a great way to give back to the community. Your old clothes can help a person that truly needs it.  The same goes for items such as furniture, or random knick-knacks that have no value to you. Don’t be a hoarder, and give them away.

Stick to the End

As cliché as “don’t give up” sounds, it is the key to re-organizing your life. We all have those moments where we have let ourselves go and are just trying to get by day by day. The main ways to get out of that predicament are to pick yourself up, reorganize, and stick it out till the end. The saying “winners never quit and quitters never win” is very accurate.

Your life may seem like a mess right now. However, if you make the effort to re-organize, and stay motivated, you will achieve your goals in no time. How are you re-organizing for the spring? Let us know in the comments below.
