March 24, 2014 – New York, NY – With Spring in the air, the Teen Diaries Foundation and talented singer/songwriter Bridget Kelly hosted a PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT fitness event for teen girls at The Ailey Extension, The Ailey Organization’s program of dance and fitness classes for the general public.
Fitness instructor Karen Arceneaux led an afternoon sweat session that incorporated pilates moves and Ailey's signature Horton Technique. 30 girls ages 13-18 studied stretching and strengthening dance moves that had them floating gracefully across the studio floor alongside Bridget Kelly, who is preparing for the upcoming Nike marathon in Washington, DC, and participating mentors. Mentors included Marie Claire's Brittany Kozerski, Model/Dancer Damaris Lewis, celebrity nail artist Dawn Sterling, Revolt’s Marquetta Moore, Nike's Sharada Maddox, and Glamour's Sharlyn Pierre.
Special thanks to brand participants Kind Bars, Pretzel Crisps, TRUKFIT, and NIKE; event producer Selena Covington; and volunteer/fitness reporter Aja Gatling.
