Pretty Girls Sweat, Be You! 413 and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Celebrate National Love Your Body Month!

As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., I warmly welcomed the opportunity to speak at the Eta Mu chapter's "Pretty Fit" event alongside the Georgia State University chapter of Be You! 413 to celebrate National Love Your Body Month. Girls must always be reminded that there is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.

During the event, I shared tips with over 100 Georgia State women on how to have a healthy body image and how to make fitness a priority in college. Attendees had an opportunity to highlight what they learned by joining Be You! GSU’s #iwllbeconfident  challenge. The ladies were asked to write how they will be confident and proudly posted it on a wall for others to see. Not only did they talk confidence and fitness but they were able to sweat too! Fitness Instructor and Founder / CEO of Be You! 413 Sydney Combs lead a fun "butts and guts" instructional workout. Sydney explained, “Many women workout but do not know how to properly perform workouts to reach their goals”.  Before the workout was over, ladies learned how to properly squat, lunge and plank. Pretty Fit was undeniably night of fun, fitness, and sisterhood!

After the event, Her Campus GSU got a chance to catch up with Aeshia and Sydney!  (READ MORE)

FOUNDER | Aeshia is living her dream. The social entrepreneur unites and empowers girls to be health leaders in their communities. The child obesity epidemic along with the void of entertaining yet positive fitness content and events for young women (ages 13-22) led to the conception and rapid growth of her passionate venture. Before creating Pretty Girls Sweat, Aeshia worked in the TV industry for over 9 years - working her way up from an intern at ABC to a producer on Sundance Channel's celebrated, primetime series ICONOCLASTS. The former high school athlete (track, volleyball, and basketball) and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was also a model for Wilhelmina in New York City. In her free time, the wife and mother of three girls enjoys reading inspirational books, listening to music, eating great food with friends, and enjoying the outdoors.
