Aside from the endless pictures posted to show the highlights of many people's lives, Instagram serves as a great fitness tool, allowing users to check out different personal trainers, incorporate new techniques in their routine, and find inspiration. Which makes sense because Kayla Itsines, 23, is no exception! As a native of Adelaide, Australia, she has over 2.8 million Instagram followers!
Her fitness journey began in 2008, when she started a personal training course at the Australian Institute of Fitness. Upon graduation, she took on a job at a women’s only personal training center in Adelaide, Australia. However, shortly after, Itsines realized the methods she was instructed to use often fell short or did not provide the results her clients were aspiring to achieve.
The new clients would say how they hated their inner thighs, wanted toned arms, and wanted a flat-stomach with nice abs. As the same issues kept reoccurring, Itsines decided to do something about it. Eventually, she decided to do her own research and developed her own set of exercises that targeted those specific areas.
“Before I knew it, I had developed workouts and cardio techniques, mixed with nutrition planning that achieved a certain result: a bikini body confidence.”
Shortly after leaving the fitness center, she started her own company, Bikini Body Guide, a 12-week body-training guide that is aimed at helping women achieve a bikini body in the most efficient areas possible. The Bikini Body Guide is different from other products on the market because it isn’t solely a weight loss guide.
“It’s about helping people gain health, happiness, and confidence. It’s not about losing massive amounts of weight in an unhealthy way. It’s more about fat loss and being lean,” she said.
Her clients saw amazing results in 12 weeks or even sometimes sooner and began telling their friends about it. By uploading client transformations, healthy eating ideas, and training tips, she was able to inspire thousands of women to move towards a healthier lifestyle! “Having the ability to touch the lives of so many people, through my fitness and nutrition guidelines has been the most rewarding part of my practice!
A typical eating and drinking day for this fitness inspiration includes: toast with poached eggs, avocado, tomato, and spinach with a cup of berry tea for breakfast. Then for a snack, she’ll have a piece of fruit and usually a wrap with chicken, homemade Greek garlic, lettuce and tomato, for lunch. Dinner is usually a Greek soup with chicken stock, rice, and lemon.
“When I was young, I always said: I don’t know what I want to be. I just want to help people. Fitness has become my passion, and I now get to help women around the world each and every single day,” she said.
