Meet Bri Andrews: A Sweat Sister with a Story that'll Inspire!


Here at PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, we love highlighting women who are on a mission to empower not only themselves but everyone around them as well. With that said,
Bri Andrews is a woman on a mission! The 23-year-old Fort Wayne, Indiana native, wears many hats, working as a full-time Optician, part-time group fitness instructor, and part-time spoken word artist. Amongst all of these amazing things, she is also a mother committed to raising her son. Living by the quote “Are you merely interested in your goals or are you actually committed to your goals?”, Bri can teach us all a lesson on how to reach them!  




Tell us how your winning photo came about?

I have been blessed with not having to purchase any fitness photoshoots. I’m a firm believer in “trade and support.” I did a lot of trading with photographers. I traded free personal training sessions and free class vouchers for free fitness shoots. It allowed us to support each other with our talents affordably.

Please briefly share your fitness journey with us.

Between the ages of 15-19, I never worried about what I ate because I had a speedy metabolism. I always danced and maintained that prima ballerina body. I took that for granted when pregnant expecting to bounce back immediately after having my son. I hate junk, and I didn’t work out my entire pregnancy. Other than dance and runs, I had never worked out before. Before pregnancy, I was thin, 5 ft 3, 115lb. By the time I had my son, I had gained 50lb. I felt so awful, I lost confidence, this was the heaviest I’d ever been in my life, and I had plantar fasciitis due to my feet not being used to the extra weight. I knew I had to make a change, but I had no idea where to start. I began with what I knew running and dancing.

I would jog/run the track in my neighborhood park as well as take Zumba classes. It wasn’t long before I was the one teaching the Zumba classes. I became a Zumba instructor, and while teaching, I got my workout in. I also researched other forms of fitness. I started taking those classes as extra workouts. Soon after, I got certified in teaching those classes, as well. I ended up routinely teaching 14-16 classes per week as well as personal training for four gyms. I’ve taught Bootcamp, HIIT, Core, Synergy, Queenax Circuit, Butt & Guts, and more. I saw how fitness helped me Improving my life tremendously, so I felt a responsibility to help others in their journeys. We believe fitness + friendship = FUN!


What is your favorite group fitness workout?

I didn’t like personal training, but I love teaching group fitness classes. My favorite is Synergy and Bootcamp because they combine a high intensity level of cardio, sculpting, and strength training. It’s the complete full body workout. 

While working out is important, so is eating the right foods. What is your go-to pre-workout meal? How do you refuel after a workout?

When it comes to eating, I am a “Pescatarian.” I have been for about two years now. A pescatarian is a vegetarian that also eats seafood. I was vegan for 1 month, but I missed seafood so much so I became a pescatarian. I don’t eat any land animals.  

I try to always drink a gallon of water a day. Before workouts, I eat proteins that promote muscle gain and muscle development such as salmon, tuna, shrimp, soybeans, peanuts, etc. After workouts, my favorite meal to eat is my homemade chopped Salmon Reboot salad or my Tuna Recharge salad. Spinach leaves, Tuna or salmon, dried cranberries, various veggies, instead of croutons crushed tortilla chips, and instead of dressing spicy guacamole.

What is one item that is always in your gym bag?

One item that’s always in my gym bag is sweet sweat workout enhancement cream, I rub it on most of my body before any workout. 

What are your top 3 fitness Instagram accounts to follow?

My top 3 favorite fitness Instagram accounts to follow is of course @prettygirlsweat, but also @iamsteelefit, @melissamolinaro, and @squats.

What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

One thing that might surprise people about me is I don’t take pre-workout or any workout supplements. I get all my energy naturally by drinking fruit infused water and taking vitamins.  




What are your top three goals you hope to accomplish in life?

My top 3 goals in life: 
  • Travel the world 
  • Be a motivational speaker and counselor 
  • Write an empowering self-love book 

What does PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT mean to you?

To me, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means “Female Beauty of all forms united together in sisterhood to empower the women of the world.” I loved the PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT festival 2019 in Atlanta. It was an amazing experience. I can’t wait for 2020! How can readers stay in touch with you on social media?

Since PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, what is your favorite deodorant?

I use Lavanila Deodorant because it’s an all natural vegan deodorant. They call it the healthy deodorant. I also use many different all natural essential oils.
