On Saturday September 27, 2014, The Teen Diaries Foundation, a 501(C)3 nonprofit that mentors teen girls through career development and fitness, Grammy nominated recording artist Keri Hilson and teen queens, OMG hosted a PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT BASKETBALL AND DOUBLE DUTCH AEROBICS PARTY. The sweat session, which took place at the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA in Atlanta, Georgia, brought in over 200 attendees including teen girls, tastemakers (including singer Tiffany Evans), mentors and volunteers.
The mentors of the afternoon consisted of Teen Angels Society founder Dr. Felicia Roberts, Beauty Blogger McKenzie Harris, US United Ambassador Queen Aftan M Williams and Teen Diaries Foundation Co-founder Nicole Johnson Roberson. They each headed various teams with inspiring names such as believe, hope, dream and smile.
The fitness fueled event started off with dynamic stretch exercises led by WNBA veteran Rushia Brown and fitness trainer Johnny Clarkson. As guests recharged from warm-up by drinking Hint water, they enjoyed up close and personal inspirational pep talks from Teen Diaries and PGS founder Aeshia DeVore Branch, Keri Hilson and the OMG Girlz.
Soon after, it was time to work out! The hosts, mentors, volunteers and teen guests participated in amazing activities such as Double Dutch Aerobics, basketball drills, and the SWEAT MAKES CENTS jumping jacks challenge that not only had their faces plastered with smiles but also had their bodies sweating.
After the festivities boiled down, girls were treated to Pretty Girls Sweat backpacks that included goodies from SkinnyPop Popcorn, Miss Jessie's Hair Products, Colgate and Kind Bars. Some lucky ladies scored raffle prizes such as Beats By Dre earphones, beauty products, and PGS swag that had them jumping for joy. An undeniable favorite prize of the afternoon were CD’s signed by host Keri Hilson.
All in all it was a great afternoon that left a memorable mark on teen guests and attendees alike. Check out teen blogger Zion Da Fro's interview with Keri and OMG after the event:

Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA is an inclusive nonprofit organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. In 1858, just seven years after the YMCA movement came to this country from England, the first Y opened in Atlanta. Caught in the Holocaust of the Civil War, the Y disappeared in 1864, but was reorganized in 1873, and has since been in continuous operation. Most recently in 2007, the Southwest Family YMCA was rededicated and renamed in honor of Ambassador Andrew and Dr. Walter Young to recognize the commitment and support Andrew, Walter, and their families have demonstrated for decades. The Youngs’ parents were strong supporters of the YMCA, encouraging their two sons to spend time at their facility. In 2008, the branch hosted a birthday party for the late Dr. Maya Angelou. Funds from the celebration and local county grants went towards construction of the new opened Dr. Maya Angelou Teen Center, a safe haven for the teens in the metro Atlanta community, which features a performing arts stage.
