On being a double-minority:
"Because of the way my father brought us up, we had a very strong sense of self and who we were and what we were. He started drilling it into me that 'because you are black and a female, you will have to work twice as hard to even get any type of recognition' We had a very strong sense of self so I didn't take any crap when I was younger, growing up as a minority in that environment."
On what PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means to her:
"I think that PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT means working out doesn't have to be pretentious. It's kind of for everybody. It challenges the notion of who's supposed to work out, to sweat, or let their hair down. That title is about removing inhibitions and really kind of getting down to your goals and having a healthy lifestyle while still looking good."
