Here’s Why Nick Hagelin Makes Our Heart Sing!

Say what’s up to our latest obsession: Nick Hagelin! The former Island Records recording artist, who after a long process of recording his first EP, decided that he wanted to go independent for a while. His super brave move ensures that there's still good musicians out there that put quality over quantity. He's had several cover videos go viral, including this cover of Bruno Mars' ''Marry You".

Nick decided to release his self written and self-titled EP independently on SoundCloud. Also, the EP is available on Spotify and iTunes.

This album is exactly as he would describe it: Soulful pop. It sounds very fresh and catchy, there's no doubt he'll be included in our summer playlists! The songs on this album give off the impression that a large team of professional writers and producers pieced together the final package, but Hagelin handles the project with simplicity and that's why we love him!

When did you get your big break?
I don't really feel like I've had a big break, all my success has been the steady culmination of years of making music and performing, I continue to grow and get better and more people are listening!
How would you define your music?
Soulful pop
Since leaving Interscope Records, what have been the pros and cons of being an independent musician?
Being signed to a major label was a dream come true for me.  I learned so much recording and working with the best people in the music industry, but I needed to get away from it to make music that was true to myself. Now I feel super excited because I'm applying everything I learned in that process to music I am writing and very proud of.
What advice would you give to young musicians who wants to make it to the industry?
Invest in yourself!!! If you don't do it, no one will! Do your craft everyday - if you're a singer, sing every day and do it in front of people! If you are a rapper you should be writing and recording everyday - If you're a producer you better be making beats while your friends are playing video games! Do not seek an overnight success or quick come up, just be great! The more you spend your time increasing your value, the more people will value your time!
What's up next for you?
I'm recording my debut album and getting ready for the world tour!
