FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Why is Avocado So Dope?

Category:

The list of benefits of including avocado in a daily diet or beauty regimen is infinite. Avocado oil is a great moisturizer for hair and dry scalp while an avocado-based facial adds a glow to the skin.

The advantages of this nutrient-packed fruit are extended when served on a plate. When sliced and drizzled with olive oil and a dash of pepper, these fiber-enriched beauties will have your taste buds craving for more.

Studies have shown that avocados can significantly help lower cholesterol levels, decreasing the risk of heart disease. They are also loaded with antioxidants that help protect the eyes.

When compared to bananas, avocados include more potassium. Higher intakes of potassium means reduced blood pressure and lessened cramps from mother nature’s monthly gift. There are so many ways to include avocado in your diet. Guacamole is a start but trying another way to eat avocado never hurt anyone. Check out this recipe below!

1.Toast 1-2 slices of a preferred bread (rye, multigrain, or whole- grain are all wonderful healthy options to choose from).

2. Unpeel, slice and smash one whole ripe avocado. Make sure to not completely smash the avocado. The chunkier the better!

3. Slather the smashed avocado on the surface of both pieces of toast. Sprinkle a dash of fresh black ground pepper and a drizzle of olive oil on the top.

4. Slice a half of an heirloom tomato and layer on top of the toast and avocado. Drizzle a bit more olive oil on the top then add a dash more of black pepper.

5. If desired, top with sriracha or hot sauce for a spicy kick.

Enjoy!
