ASK AESHIA | How Can I Balance My College Life?

Category:

QUESTION | "Do you have any advice on time management and balance in college as there is always so much going on and so much to do? I hit the ground running once I got to college and many of my family members and close friends are always stressing to me their concern for me doing too much or being too involved. Personally, I feel fine with everything I have on my plate. I constantly pray and pace myself, because I've realized that I'm not supposed to have it all figured out just yet. In regards to that, how do you think I can be more efficient and spend my time wisely with what I choose to dedicate my time too."

ADVICE | When it comes to time management, you have to prioritize your activities in order of importance and complete what you can at your best ability without getting burnt out. If you feel fine juggling your many activities, just reassure your family and friends that you can handle the pressure and actually thrive on it. If your loaded schedule is interfering with your sleep, personal life, or making you irritable or stressed, you should reevaluate your priorities. Your family and friends just want what's best for you and sometimes they can't relate to an overachiever or someone who can multi-task on another level than they can.

I hope this helps!

FOUNDER | Aeshia is living her dream. The social entrepreneur unites and empowers girls to be health leaders in their communities. The child obesity epidemic along with the void of entertaining yet positive fitness content and events for young women (ages 13-22) led to the conception and rapid growth of her passionate venture. Before creating Pretty Girls Sweat, Aeshia worked in the TV industry for over 9 years - working her way up from an intern at ABC to a producer on Sundance Channel's celebrated, primetime series ICONOCLASTS. The former high school athlete (track, volleyball, and basketball) and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was also a model for Wilhelmina in New York City. In her free time, the wife and mother of three girls enjoys reading inspirational books, listening to music, eating great food with friends, and enjoying the outdoors.
