5 Ways to Shape Up for the Summer

Wouldn’t it be terrific to slip on your distressed, cut-off shorts and feel slimmer, stronger, and more confident than ever? There's a right way and a wrong way to see results by Summer, and we've got a quick list of ways to whip you into shape. First, skip the crash diets. The key to getting a rocking body is believing you have what it takes to be the best you can be. Once you believe you’re capable of anything, you’re on your way. Keep reading for five ways to get ready for your Summer slayage!

1. Join a Spring Sport

Whether it’s softball, beach volleyball, or track, participating in a sport at your school is an easy way to get fit. You already have time set to workout, and if you enjoy the game, it will be a fun activity. So, find what you like and get out there!

2. Ab workouts

If you’re not really into getting out of your house, or you don’t have time to join a gym, you can get killer abs at home. This video demonstrates ten ab exercises that you can do in just 10 minutes!

3. Swimming

Swimming works out every muscle, and it’s fun. If you live in a cooler environment, it might not be hot enough to use an outdoor pool, but there are plenty of gyms or community centers with indoor pools. Whether you’re doing water aerobics or swimming for pleasure, this is a great workout you don’t want to miss.  Here is a video of some exercises you can do in the water:

4. Eating right

A HUGE part of getting your summer body ready is making sure you are eating healthy. Sadly, no one can expect to achieve their goals if they have a McFlurry every day. You don’t have to switch out every single item in your diet, but going for healthier options is beneficial to reaching your goal faster.

5. Drinking enough water

Staying hydrated is beyond important whether you are working out or not. A human is supposed to drink half of their body weight in ounces each day! It not only helps with digestion, but it also flushes out toxins, relieves mood, hydrates skin for more of a glow and is overall a natural detox. Also, if the water tastes a little bland to you, try adding some fruit!

Getting up and doing the work is the hard part, but once you start, you will see results and begin to feel and look better as long as you stick with it.
