From the COVID-19 pandemic to heartbreaking celebrity deaths, 2020 has been a challenging year. Over the past nine months, we’ve been hit with terrible news back-to-back. Having to deal with so many tragedies can take a toll on our emotional, mental, and physical health and make it hard to stay focused on the goals we set for ourselves at the top of the year. While the unsettling events of 2020 have thrown us all off balance and forced us to put some of our aspirations on pause, there is still time to accomplish many of the dreams we had in mind. If you have struggled to obtain any of your goals this year, I'm sharing five tips that will help you crush your goals during the last three months of the year.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned in 2020 is that back-up plans are just as important as the initial plans. Make sure you have a “plan B” or a “plan C” because you never know what circumstances may arise. Planning is a fool-proof way to ensure you achieve your goals.
Every day, we are hearing another tragic story on the news. Learning about these devastating events may make you feel uncomfortable emotions almost every day. The best thing to do is to accept how you feel. If you are feeling sad, lean into the sadness. If you are feeling stressed, accept that. Do not push those feelings to the side. Feel the discomfort of those emotions through. This way, you will have a clear mind and a clear heart.
3.Take Care of Yourself
Go to bed early, eat healthily, and exercise regularly. It's important to prioritze all three elements. You will not show up as your best self if you do not incorporate these practices into your daily routine. If you need help getting started, read through our article on how to start a self-care plan.
4. Create a Daily Routine
Having a structured schedule can make it easier to accomplish your goals. In this time of uncertainty, it helps to plan out your days. Create a schedule for your days and weeks ahead of time. If you know what is next, then you will be able to work more efficiently and make steady progress towards your goals.
5. No Negativity Zone
Listen, you are doing yourself a disservice by engaging in negativity on social media and even with family and friends. Limit your intake of negative social media posts and the time you spend around negative people. Pessimistic social media content and people can take a toll on your wellbeing.
Always remember that tough times don't last long. Tough times mold us into the people we need to be. Even though it seems as if our goals are not attainable right now, they are. You have to keep trying and living each day with a purpose. Do not forget that somebody can reach their dreams by starting with small goals. As long as you wake up in the morning and your feet can hit the floor, then you are ready to attempt your goals! You got this!
