4 Tips On How To Stay Motivated This Summer

Category:
It’s tough to admit it, but summer can sabotage all of the hard work you’ve put in this year to get in shape. From late night drinks with friends to your increased craving for salted caramel ice cream, you may be slipping on staying motivated to keep training and eating healthily. To keep that inner fire burning even when the last thing you’re thinking about is your Saturday sweat sesh, here are a few things you can do to stay motivated to workout when the temps are rising.

1. Make a fitness Instagram.

We are all guilty of liking a workout video or recipe we want to try later, only for it to get lost amongst the hundreds of other photos we've also double tapped. Focus solely on your fitness goals by creating a second Instagram account to follow your favorite fitness influencers and health and wellness accounts. Post progress photos of yourself and allow your best Sweatsisters to follow you for encouragement. This fitness Instagram is a place for you to glean insight and motivation while also keeping track of your progress.

*Note: Following influencers can be a powerful tool to stay motivated and current on all things fitness, however, do not waste a second of your time comparing yourself to anyone. You are unique, and so is your fitness journey!

2. Create vision boards and post them around your house

It can be difficult to continuously make choices that are in your best interest, especially when you walk into the kitchen and see those pastries on the counter. But actions become habits, and habits become your lifestyle. While it is okay to indulge every once in a while, you want to make sure that your actions are in line with the lifestyle we want.

Creating vision boards is an excellent way to make better daily choices and keep your desired lifestyle in mind. Post a board in your kitchen, your bedroom, and even your bathroom. Yes, your bathroom! If you enjoy the occasional bubble bath or a long shower, take advantage of your free time by meditating on your goals.

3. Splurge a little... or a lot

Think back to the time you bought that gorgeous new dress and were looking for any excuse to wear it. Well, the same rules apply to your workout clothes. One of the hardest parts of any fitness journey is deciding to physically get up and go to the gym. So buy those new leggings you have been eyeing. Maybe even the matching top! Give yourself yet another reason to go to the gym. It will boost your self-esteem and motivation when you like the way you look.

4. Dance in front of the mirror

Okay, this one might be a little corny, but stay with me here. When was the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror to simply enjoy the fruits of your labor? Odds are it's probably been a while. Take a few minutes in the morning to celebrate your body. Turn on some music and simply revel in the fact that you get to be you. As soon as a critical thought comes to mind, remind yourself that every part of you is beautiful. Be kind to yourself and savor every curve.
