3 Times That Michelle Obama was #FitnessGoals

Michelle Obama is the quintessential example of poise and grace. From her exceptional fashion choices to her moving speeches, the First Lady has become one of the most influential figures of our time. Her greatest endeavor, however, was launching the "Let's Move" campaign in attempts to solve the national epidemic of childhood obesity. Because she has made so many great strides toward health and fitness, we, here at PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, would like to celebrate this game changer by remembering her top three fitness moments.

1. Let’s Move

In 2010,  Michelle Obama launched a national campaign called “Let’s Move” to eliminate childhood obesity by encouraging children to become more active. With the help of celebrity endorsers such as Beyoncé, this initiative made waves around the nation. Let’s Move is not only about fitness. It aims to promote healthy eating and overall wellness. The First Lady cracked down on school lunches and mandated that the nutritional content be made with wholesome ingredients. This campaign was also the inspiration for PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT!

2. Push-Ups with Ellen

In 2012, the First Lady guest starred on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to challenge the host to a push-up competition.  Being the humble and down-to-earth woman that she is, Michelle was not afraid to get down on the floor and get straight to business. After approximately 20 push-ups, Ellen tired out. However, Mrs. Obama continued on with 25 push-ups in total.  Pretty impressive!

3. Turn Up for Turnips

One of the most comical moments of her time as First Lady was Michelle’s response to a Vine Q&A. In 2014,  she conducted a Q&A session to promote the Let’s Move campaign where she was asked how many calories do you burn when you turn up.  Her response went viral with a clip  of her dancing to Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What”.
Michelle Obama will go down in history for many reasons. However, we appreciate her for embodying our true message here at PGS
