These days, there's no shortage of fitness and nutrition content on Instagram. Just head to the Explore page, and you'll get a nudge from a wellness account to work on tightening your abs or squat your way to a head-turning rear end. So while flicking your wrist, you may have spotted Snellville, GA native Mecca Day, who served as a PGS Ambassador during college.
After graduating from Georgia State University, the 23-year old wellness professional and fitness entrepreneur went from selling out her weekly OH MY GLUTES! classes to pivoting during the pandemic through the virtual platform she set up before COVID paralyzed the wellness industry. Her Hip hop infused strength training classes have also promoted her successful resistance bands business, which sells out in less than 5 minutes of posting a product drop.
In April, she and her life partner E.J. Houston announced that they're expecting their first child, and over 50K of her 210K+ followers were blown away by the incredible news. Since then, her workouts haven't slowed down. Staying fit is her happy place, and after consulting with her physician, she continues to exercise during her entire pregnancy. So, of course, she caught our eye when it was time to select finalists for our Mother's Day May photo contest. Our timeline went wild at the sight of her inspiring photo, and she won by a landslide! Keep reading to learn more about the fit mom-to-be.
Tell us how your winning photo came about?
Our photo was a gender/pregnancy reveal to everyone. My daughter's father and I are both heavily into fitness, and it was only right that we add our fit touch to it.
Please briefly share your fitness journey with us.
I've always been into fitness. I began gymnastics at the age of 4 and did that for about eight years. From there, I started competitive cheerleading and running track. These sports were extremely time-consuming for a kid/teenager, so I honestly didn't have much of a life outside of school, practice, and meets. I ran track my freshman and sophomore years of college, but when my junior year came, I decided I didn't want to run anymore. I wanted to go back to my first passion... tumbling. I decided to join Georgia State's Cheerleading team. I ended up tearing my Achilles at the first practice. It was a long devastating recovery. For the first time in my life, I wasn't working out, and I began hating my body. Once I was recovered, I began working back out and fell in love with fitness all over again. I would post my workouts here and there on social media, so women started reaching out for me to train them, and that's where my career in fitness began.

There's nothing more pretty than a woman working out, taking care of her body, and getting it in! When I say pretty, I don't just mean on the outside either. I'm speaking physically and mentally pretty. When you're in shape, and you're healthy, you just look better and you feel better.
